Kinja'd!!!

I my be getting a new car in the next few months but I have no idea what I want so I was hoping that you guys would give me some ideas.

Budget under $10k

Needs space for stuff. (I like snowboarding and I go a lot so no miata)

I don't care if its AWD RWD or FWD.

Fairly reliable, not trying to wrench more than I drive it.

Preferably manual.

Coupes with roof racks are cool.

Also not looking for an SUV or CUV.

(Any rules, except price, may be broken if you have a great idea)

See if you can get a snowboard in the back of a 4th gen F-body

Honda Element? Available with a manual and AWD or FWD. Box shape means maximum cargo space: could carry snowboards and gear without need of a roofrack (which impacts fuel economy, of course).

-RSX Type-S
-FD Civic SI (I prefer the sedan in terms of looks)
-Celica All Trac (If you can find one. I nearly bought a '93 w/ 80k original miles, 1 elderly woman owner, in showroom condition for $7k in AZ. Not purchasing that car is one of the biggest regrets of my life)
-IS300 (May be tough to find in manual, but they're out there)
-Legacy

There are plenty of other options out there too. It's a shame you won't go with smaller, because I'd say the S2000 is the best car you can buy for under $10k. If you could fine one with a hardtop you could throw a roof rack on it, but there's pretty much no other storage space. haha

Then again, anything is possible. ;)

The problem with F-bodys are up here they are either junk or a convertible and junk. It just seems that most F-bodys just didn't hold up as well as SN-95s.

Meh, I'd rather go with something smaller, going from one CUV to another just isn't appealing at the moment.

But my roommate has a V70R and it sounds like exactly what you need (he paid $11k).

RSX Type-S (it's a hatch) or IS300 with a stick.

Forester XT. All the cargo of a CUV with all the manners of a WRX. Not often found as a manual but the automatic has really short gearing, so there's that. The flat 4 gives a really low center of gravity to a vehicle class that doesn't typically have one and it's within a fat passenger's weight of the WRX.

I really want one, but like you said it's hard to find these in a manual.

with roof racks you can fit the snowboards. There is plenty of room in the back for the rest.

Yeah. Honestly though from my test drive and this type of vehicle I wouldn't hate driving the automatic, in fact I might even like it. Have you driven one before?

Ya, my buddy worked at a dealership and I went to pick him up one day saw it on the lot and we took it for a good joyride. Really does feel like a big WRX.

My next recommendation would be a Saab 9-2x Aero. These might even appreciate with how rare they are and it's easier to find a clean one than a clean WRX.

The ride is pretty terrible, but its great in corners (read: pulls 1.0g on a skidpad). It also scoots along pretty well and makes me feel damn fancy too.

Kinja'd!!!

There are a lot of manual equipped ones too.

I'm going to take this moment to share my Oppo review of it. But I said this about its power:

"Its engine is the standard MB all aluminum 3.2L V6 that Mercedes pretty much put in everything. 215hp - 229lbtq is in a word adequate. When you're just driving around town the low end torque never leaves you wanting more and it makes a nice noise past 3k rpms. Really when you want to go, it goes, it is limited to 155mph after all. But I do realize there are faster cars out there."

I actually don't mind it, but that's what paint or vinyl wraps are for. Plus I've just saved you $4k so you can afford to make it prettier.

This is the only decent picture I could find of an early allroad all in the body color. Not suggesting you should bag it, although I'm not saying you shouldn't bag it either. Ahaha
